These are needs we have for developers to work on a project basis. These are telecommute, contract opportunites that may evolve to full-time positions if the match is right. We look for independent, experienced professionals who take pride in their work.

LOCATION We prefer candidates close to our main Boston-area HQ. But if you are remote and can provide an impressive portfolio and solid references, by all means get in touch.

HOW IT WORKS We will provide you with clear expectations and specifications on the work to be completed. We will mutually agree on the proper budget and timeline for the project, and sign a Statement of Work contract to that effect.

Web Application Developer

Required:

Ability to work independently and be self-directed, but with clear and forthright communication.
Have an open mind and a sincere curiosity about learning new techniques and development practices
You've installed Wordpress, Drupa, Joomla or similar CMS frameworks without breaking a sweat.
Can grok basic Object Oriented PHP code and can explain the difference between a class and an instance, and when pass-by-reference is appropriate.
Have either used XDebug or are interested in it.
Have some experience with version control as part of a team (subversion preferably), or are willing to learn.
Not afraid of the command line.

Desired:

Solid, practical knowledge of HTML / CSS layouts and issues
enjoy JavaScript frameworks (JQuery, or maybe Ext or Prototype)
have seen the light of Test-Driven development
Programming in a context other than web-application development

About the work:

Initial projects will involve maintenance and additions to existing sites with guidance. From there, it is up to your interests and the types of projects that come in.You will be customizing our in-house CMS, as well as open-source frameworks, and working on shopping carts, payment systems, and other custom applications.

This is a contract opportunity with the possibility to go permanent.
